How do I get insde the glass covering on my Hampton Bay ceiling fan to change the light bulb?

The LEDs are surface mounted LEDs, very tricky to work with and very easy to mess something up, meaning expensive circuit board replacement required.
I've seen very few people do this themselves, there's one company in the UK I know of who does this (or at least used to), and one person lately I've seen post on a MINI forum that they did this themselves, but did not provide advice on how they did it. Unbolting the battery on the drivers side and moving it in helps also. Just don't unbolt anything on the headlight or alignment can be off.

Now the turn signals are in the fenders and so that's a different story.
To replace th eheadlights in a '96-'00 Honda Civic:
- Open the hood of the car.
- Pinch either side of the square black plug on the back of the headlight housing. They do somethign stick, and so if they do just press in one side and lean it in the opposite direction then after that pinch in the other side. That usually works for me
- Remove the black rubber boot from the back of the housing by pulling it off.
- There is a metal clip on the headlight housing behind that rubber boot. Press it n and unclip it (you'll see when you get there).
- Now the bulb is free. Remove the bulb.
- When you replace the old with the new bulb DO NOT touch the glass on the bulb! This will leave oils from your skin on the bulb and will cause it to possibly burn out faster (it heats up the outside of the bulb more).
- Do everything in reverse to replace the bulb. :)
It's pretty easy and you should probbaly pick it up after once. Your owner's manual shoudl also have illustrations in it to explain the removal and install. Then it's just a matter of undoing the bayonet-fit bulb and replacing it with another one. It's a standard bulb, any motor factor or Halfords will stock them for 2-ish each, it's worth buying a couple, because they blow all the time on Clios. When you're done, the light unit is supposed to just clip back into place, but it can be a fiddle to get it to line up properly, hence the number of old Clios you'll see with slightly squinty rear lights!

The 35W and the 55W system. Assuming you have a car, then you wouldn't worry about 12V or 24V. If you are changing the bulbs, make sure that it uses the same power, ie, 35W or 55W.

The wires on them should be removable on the base of the bulbs. To remove the bulb from the base turn the bulb and it should be easy to oull out then replace the bulb using the same process. Make sure you wipe the light bulb face so that you leave no finger prints on them, some bulb will burn out with prints on them. Usually the bulb is held into place by a mount with a ring that turns to lock it in. It's just a big FREAKIN' PAIN to try and turn that plastic ring, with trying to fit your hands and fingers into the small space. If it's the driver side headlamp, sometimes you've got to take out battery so you've got room to work. It's not complicated, just a hassle.
Once you've got the ring turned, you'll see how it unlocks it. It doesn't unscrew like a pop bottle cap. Then you pull out the bulb. Think you can also remove the wiring from the part first before trying to move the locking ring which helps to not damage the wires. Once out, you merely replace the bulb like changing batteries, and then reassemble the whole thing again. It's much easier to pay the $20 to let someone else do it.
IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!!! If you do it yourself, you really really REALLY have to make sure that the new bulb has all your fingerprints off it. In fact, don't ever touch the bulb itself. This is why.
Bulbs are halogen which burn extremely hot, that's why they throw a brighter light down the road. But they are sooooo hot, that they can burn extremely easily. Your fingers have grease on them, part of your body's stuff. Not talking about engine or motor grease, this is a natural oil on your fingers and hands. If this gets onto the bulb, the oils from your hands will actually begin to cook, or fry, just like french fries in cookng grease, and that will cause the bulb to burn out or even maybe explode. Your fingers have grease on them, part of your body's stuff. Not talking about engine or motor grease, this is a natural oil on your fingers and hands. If this gets onto the bulb, the oils from your hands will actually begin to cook, or fry, just like french fries in cookng grease, and that will cause the bulb to burn out or even maybe explode. I actually cant change the light bulb?
my stupid flatmate blew the light bulb recently and noones changed it.
i tried to tonight, but i tried one with a pointed end that u ccan screw in, and it didnt fit.
i can see two prongs inside the bit the hangs down, so i tried one with two flat bits on the end, and it lit up but i cant screw it in as it has no twisty bits so allow me to screw it in.

Lesson One... MAKE SURE THE LIGHT IS OFF AT THE LIGHT SWITCH. This is impoortant because if its not then you go sticking your fingers where theyre not spoz to be, you could be in trouble.
Lesson 2; Have a good look at the place on the light fitting where you are inserting the lightbulb. There should be metal ring all the way around where the light bulb fits into. In that metal ring you will see two bits cut out of it.
3; On the bulb itself, turn it so you can see the metal face on it, rather than the glass end. You should see two oval shaped metal things. On the outer rim there are two little pieces that stick out from the sides of this. (bit like metal matchsticks, only not as fat) only very small length too
4; Those 'metal matchsticks' are then LINED UP with the two openings in the light fitting, and you push bulb up into the light fitting, pushing these two bits together. Push them together gently (dont push hard incase you shatter the lightbulb)
and when you have pushed it as far as you can do so, turn it gently til it stops. That will either be one way or the other...my lamps appear to be clockwise turn, and the central ceiling fixtures are anti-clockwise, so its trial and error, But at least you have the basic essentials in line.
Lesson five:
TEACH YOUR FLATMATES TO DO IT, SO THAT IT ISNT ALWAYS LEFT TO YOU EACH TIME A BULB GOES

how do you change the tail light bulb in a 93 dodge dakota?my boyfriend doesnt know much about vehicals so any help with this would be appreciated thanks.How do you change the tail light bulb in a 93 dodge dakota?1.go into the trunk and unscrew the screws that hold the light cover on.(sometimes they aren't screwed in so you just have to pull off the light cover)
2. remove the light cover and replace the bulb. (ask at an auto parts store for the size bulb you need)

Hold the socket in one hand, while twisting the bulb 1/4 turn and it should pull out of the socket. The bulb should have a number on the base of it like 1034 or 1127. Find new bulb with the same number on it and replace into the socket, in reverse fashion. Replace tail-light assembly. Throw old bulb away. Get a new boyfriend that can at least change a light bulb.
