How to change a spotlight bulb?

I have 3 spotlight bulbs on a fixture mounted onto the cieling, a few days ago it had a power surge, blew out 2 of the 3 bulbs (i tested the third) and caused the fusebox to switch to off for that circuit.

I put in new bulbs (tested all 3 work in a lamp), flicked the fusebox to on....still nothing - before when i changed just one bulb it switched on for a split second (flashed) - is there something I am missing? a fuse for the bracket? How to change a spotlight bulb?Sounds like you have a short in the fixture itself. If you are mechanically inclined and with the fuse or breaker off (screwed out if a fuse), disassemble the light fixture exposing the wiring. Look for a burn mark or a disconnected wire. Make sure to check all screw caps as there could be a faulty connection.

If you do not see any of the described problems, you may want to try this. At your local hardware store, you can get a simple voltage tester. They are very inexpensive. Again with the power off, disconnect the wiring that feeds into the light fixture. Expose the black and white wires but make sure they do not touch one another. Make sure that you do not touch the bare wire(s) while touching another wire or the fixture itself. Tape the tester leads onto the black and white wire with one tester wire going to the white and the other going to the black. Screw in the fuse or flip on the breaker. If power is present, the tester will light. This will narrow down that the problem is in the fixture rather than the circuit coming into the fixture. If you can not locate the exact problem area, consider replacing the fixture itself.

If the tester does not light, then your problem could be more than what you will want to attempt to repair yourself. I would then suggest having an electrician look into the situation. How to change a spotlight bulb?It sounds like the wires in you fixture are corroded or shorting out. That is probably whatt caused it in the first place instead of a power surge.
