How can i change my light bulb socket so that it could hold bulbs with higher watts??

Right now i have a socket that can only hold bulbs with 60 watts or less. What are any possible ways that i could change that so i can put bulbs with more watts? How can i change my light bulb socket so that it could hold bulbs with higher watts??It is not usually the socket or the wiring which determines the maximum wattage bulb you can use - the light socket for all wattages is basically the same - the maximum is usually set by the fitting around the light socket - is it made of plastic - use a higher wattage and the whole light fitting may melt - is it covered with a cloth material - use a higher wattage and it may catch fire - it is the fitting which sets max wattage - not the bulb socket.
